What Outdoor Activities & Parks in Nashville Are Open During Coronavirus Shutdown?

Your health and safety should always be a top priority, but it is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic. Part of staying healthy for many means regularly engaging with the outdoors and getting fresh air and exercise- we know that is certainly true for us! Fortunately, Tennessee’s state guidelines for the COVID-19 shutdown seem to agree, stating “Engaging in Outdoor Activity” as one of the approved Essential Activities. According to Gov Bill Lee’s Order,

“provided that persons [follow} the Health Guidelines to the greatest extent practicable, including, but not limited to, driving or riding in a vehicle, walking, hiking, running, biking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, golf, tennis, or other sports or recreational activities that can be performed while maintaining the aforementioned precautions or utilizing public parks and outdoor recreation areas…”

With that in mind, we have assembled a list of parks and outdoor activities that are open during the coronavirus shutdown. All of these are subject to change, and you must still observe good social distancing practices. We will update this information as frequently as we are able, and as new information is available and verified by Mayor Cooper’s Office, the CDC, or other relevant authorities.

Official Guidelines For Staying Safe While Out Of The Home

While you may be able to begin getting back outside and enjoying the great outdoors, it is recommended that you still take significant precautions whenever leaving your home. Stay safe and prevent the spread of Coronavirus when venturing outside by following the CDC’s guidelines on Visiting Parks:

  • Stay at least six feet from others at all times. This might make some open areas, trails, and paths better to use. Do not go into a crowded area.

  • Avoid gathering with others outside of your household.

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  • Bring hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol to use if soap and water are not available.

Visit the CDC’s website to read the most in-depth and up-to-date tips and recommendations on how to protect yourself and slow the spread of Coronavirus.
